Originally from South Africa, Edward & Karen moved to Carmel, Indiana with their three children to start TheHomeMag Indianapolis in May 2015. With a strong background in marketing, customer service, networking and value creation, TheHomeMag provided the perfect platform to integrate into the community, meet incredible new people and help home improvement professionals grow!
This approach culminated in the development of an incredible Team as well as highest recognition, within a short space of time, of Magazine of the Year in 2018!
Most importantly, the ongoing pursuit of high quality leads for strategically minded home improvement companies, who are serious about growing their businesses has been our driving force and is what enabled us to expanded operations into Cincinnati and N Kentucky in 2019.
In this unpredictable world, the ability to put the best Home Improvement Companies in front of the most affluent homeowners, month in and month out is where our true magic lies.
Kara Swinford | Brand Ambassador
Kara joined TheHomeMag in November 2016 as an Account Executive. Kara has over 18 years of print advertising experience. She’s worked with large corporate accounts as well as the mom-and-pop shops. Kara loves collaborating with her clients to help them achieve their goals - big or small. “The secret of success is to do the common things uncommonly well”.
Building strong relationships with clients is one of Kara’s strongest qualities. Last fall she was named Brand Ambassador for our Indianapolis team. In this role, Kara is taking on various house accounts while maintaining her current account base. She’s handled this like a rockstar and enjoys getting to meet and work with many more people in Indianapolis.
In her free time Kara enjoys family time, vacationing, gardening and spending weekends poolside in the summer.
Kylie Lockett | Client Success Executive
Kylie joined TheHomeMag Team in January 2024 as the Client Success Executive for both Indianapolis & Cincinnati.
As a successful business owner in the home improvement space, she brings years of experience to the table. Her mission is to share her wealth of knowledge and expertise with other business owners, helping them transform their lives and businesses for the better.
Beyond her career, Kylie wears many hats. She's a devoted mom of two, a loyal friend, and a passionate home renovator. Known for her love of city life, a good cup of coffee, and spontaneous travel adventures both near and far, Kylie embraces every aspect of life with enthusiasm and a zest for new experiences.
Carrie Hannigan | Client Success Executive
Carrie joined TheHomeMag in 2024. With over 20 years in advertising sales, she brings the knowledge and understanding that we at TheHomeMag value and look for. Carrie has a passion for helping businesses grow and increasing their profits on a continual basis.
As a new client, Carrie will help you thoroughly examine your challenges in order to discover opportunities for improvement. When working with Carrie, you can be assured that she will be with you every step of the way and use every tool available to help you gain qualified leads and more business each and every issue.
During her moments of leisure, Carrie enjoys quality time with her family, cooking, and embarks on thrilling adventures through travel.
Amanda Kilby | Senior Graphic Designer
Amanda has been our our designer extraordinaire for our Indianapolis magazine since our launch May 2015. She expanded into the Cincinnati market when that launched in May 2019.
Not only is Amanda clear about her mission with our clients, she is a multi-time award recipient, which includes Cover of the Year Designer (2021), Designer-of-the-Year (2018), Runner-Up Designer-of-the-Year (2019) and the Call-to-Action Award winner (2015). Having designed in excess of 15,000 ads, Amanda knows design and advertising, and she gives that effort 24/7.
Outside of the office, Amanda stays busy with her 2 lively daughters and outdoorsy husband. She enjoys doing cricut projects, photography, camping & vacationing and spending time with family and friends.
